Upgrading the NAS Server Software
The procedure to upgrade the NAS server from the support web site is incorrect in the User’s Guide.
Please use the following steps to obtain the upgrade and to upgrade your system. (The documented
procedure for updating from the CD is correct.)
• To obtain a 1.6.0 software upgrade from the support web site, follow these procedures.
1. In Command View NAS, click the Support tab.
2. Navigate to Upgrade NAS OS.
3. Select Actions > Retrieve Latest Image from Web and download the image.
4. Browse to the file, then save it to your computer.
• To upgrade the software, follow these procedures.
1. Select Actions > Upgrade NAS Server.
2. Browse to the file on your computer, then click Open to upgrade the NAS server software
with this image.
3. When asked to confirm this operation, click Yes. The new image is copied to the NAS server,
your browser window closes, and the NAS server reboots to the new operating system. After
the reboot, open a new browser and enter the IP address of the NAS 8000 in the address or
location field.
UPS Settings
• If you connected your HP NAS 8000 to the optional APC Symmetra UPS during installation, the
NAS server attempts to communicate with the UPS through a LAN connection. Please follow the
directions for the Symmetra to configure it first. Once it is configured, you can make the HP NAS
8000 aware of it by entering the information in Command View NAS. See the instructions in the
User’s Guide in the Configuring Your System and Network chapter, Configuring UPS
Connections section.
