Configuration Options
The NAS b3000 v2 can be deployed as either a clustered pair of NAS devices or as
a stand-alone single NAS device connecting to either a Modular SAN Array 1000
(MSA1000) or the HP Virtual Array (VA) storage family, but not both
simultaneously.
The NAS b3000 v2 can be deployed in all supporting configurations that the
MSA1000 and VA support for standard Windows 2000 Server deployments both
in terms of maximum capacities and options contained within each of these

Two different models of the NAS b3000 v2 are available. One model ships with an
accompanying MSA1000 that contains 4 drives, a single storage controller, and an
embedded switch. The second model ships as a stand-alone server head.
Regardless of the storage or NAS model selected, fiber attachment procedures and
recommendations contained in the included SAN connection tool should be
completed prior to connecting to the desired storage component. The SAN
connection tool can be found in the HP Utilities tab of the WebUI. The b3000 v2
can operate in existing MSA1000 and VA SAN fabrics as a host on the SAN or
within a single fabric not shared among other hosts. In the case of MSA1000
based storage, firmware of 2.38 or higher is required for the proper operation of
the b3000 v2.
