Configuring a DH-CHAP secret on the Fabric OS switch
You must know the front domain WWN of the MP Router to use as the peer entry when setting the secret
word on the Fabric OS switch. To discover the correct WWN, log in to the router and issue the
portCfgExPort command as shown in the following example:
When you have the necessary information, configure the secret word on the Fabric OS switch.
1. Log in to the switch with admin privileges.
2. Issue the secAuthSecret command:
secAuthSecret --set
The secret must be between 8 and 40 characters.
Setting up secret keys does not initiate DH-CHAP authentication. DH-CHAP authentication is performed
whenever a port or a switch is enabled.
3. Follow the instructions provided on screen, as shown in the following example:
a. Enter the port or switch WWN.
b. Enter and confirm the peer secret.
This is the secret that authenticates at the peer
c. Enter and confirm the local secret.
4. After you have added all the DH-CHAP secret information, press Enter to indicate that you have
completed the secret key setup.
5. When prompted, enter y.
