In this additional discussion, assume that Target3 is configured using portal groups across ports SA0
and SA1. While nothing prevents the configuration of the target in this manner, the configuration of a
target across storage ports on a controller is not supported nor is it recommended. Crossing storage
ports should be avoided, because there is no failover support between ports on the same controller. In
general, targets should be configured either on the top storage ports (SA0 and SB0) or on the bottom
storage ports (SA1 and SB1).
NOTE:
In all configurations, the Microsoft DSM must be installed on each server with access to the MSA1510i.
Failure to do so may lead to duplicate physical drives reporting into the Device Manager. The Microsoft
DSM is available on the Microsoft website: h
ttp://www.microsoft.com.
