In this example, three servers have access to the MSA1510i, which is configured with two iSCSI targets:
• Server 1 connects to Target1 through ports SA0 and SB0.
• Server 2 and Server 3 connect to Target2 through ports SA1 and SB1.
• Server 1 can not access the same set of targets accessible from Server 2 and 3 in this topology,
both because it is not physically connected to ports SA1 and SB1 and because of the example
portal groups.
• Server 2 and Server 3 cannot access the same targets accessible from Server 1, because they are
not physically connected to ports SA0 and SB0.
• Because Server 2 and Server 3 both access Target2, ACLs should be defined to control access to the
mapped storage LUNs and prevent unwanted or simultaneous access by the initiators. If ACLs are not
defined, both of the initiators can access the target and all of its mapped LUNs.
IMPORTANT:
Multipath configurationsmustinstalltheHPiSCSIMPIODSMoneachserverwithaccesstotheMSA,to
support MSA1510i controller failover.
Advanced configuration 2
This dual-controller configuration includes the following advanced concepts:
• Virtual LAN (VLAN) tagging is used to separate management traffic from storage traffic.
• HP Systems Insight Manager (HP-SIM) is used to discover and monitor the MSA1510i and other
network devices.
• CHAP secrets are used to authenticate iSCSI sessions.
• ACLs are used to segment off the LUNs on each Target among the initiators.
