Installing and Configuring the HS-Series Agent 4–5

Installing and Configuring the Agent

The Agent, once installed and configured properly can be started at any time and will

restart automatically on a reboot. This section provides two types of installations:

■ Installing the Agent for the first time

■ Upgrading the Agent

Installing the Agent for the First Time

If you have never installed the Agent on the machine, then you can use the

stgwks_aix.sh script to guide you through the steps. The first part of this script

checks for a previous Agent install. If none is found, then the script asks you if you want

to install the agent.

You can install the Agent at anytime by performing the following actions:

1. Mount the Storageworks CD-ROM.

2. Access the directory <cd mount dir>/swcc/agent.

3. Run the stgwks_aix.sh script.

4. Select Option 1 from the Command Console Agent Installation and Configuration

menu.

This will begin the Agent install program described below.

Checking for agent...OK

Would you like to install the agent now (Y/n)? y

The first part of the agent install checks that the user that is currently logged in and

displays copyright notices.
