HP StorageWorks Enterprise File Services WAN Accelerator Deployment Guide (November 2005)

22 2 - IN-PATH DEPLOYMENTS
Introduction to Physical In-Path Deployments
The following section describes physical in-path network configurations
where the HP EFS WAN Accelerator is physically in the direct path between
clients and servers. The clients and servers continue to see client and server
Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Physical in-path configurations are suitable
for locations where the total bandwidth is within the limits of the installed HP
EFS WAN Accelerator.

In-Path, Failover Support Deployment
An in-path, fail-over support deployment serves offices with one WAN
routing point and where network disruptions are unacceptable. This
deployment is cost effective, simple to manage, and continues to optimize data
if there is an error in the system.
The following figure illustrates the client-side of the network where redundant
HP EFS WAN Accelerators are deployed to provide optimization of data.
