Optional Features
9SAN Switch 2/8 Version 3.1.x Release Notes
The following features are built into the switch firmware, but they are not enabled.
■ QuickLoop—Allows private loop hosts access to the fabric and zoning of loop
ports. To enable, use the Web Tools QuickLoop tab, or use the Telnet
qlPortEnable command.
■ Extended Fabric—Creates a fabric interconnected at distances greater than
5 km for 2 Gb interswitch links. To enable, use the Web Tools Extended
Fabrics tab, or use the Telnet portCfgLongDistance command.
■ Remote Switch—Enables a switch to work with a separately purchased
network bridge in order to interconnect fabrics. To enable, use the Web Tools
Extended Fabrics tab. See the HP StorageWorks Common Software and

limitations.
Optional Features
The following optional features are available for the SAN Switch 2/8 EL:
■ Secure Fabric OS—Provides security mechanisms at all vulnerable points in a
SAN fabric, from hosts to storage at the port, switch, and fabric levels.
■ power pak Upgrade Bundle—Includes licenses for ISL Trunking, Advanced
Performance Monitoring, Extended Fabric, Remote Switch, and Fabric Watch
options.
■ Full Fabric Upgrade—Allows the user to upgrade their SAN Switch 2/8 EL
from IV_Domain_Fabric OS to Full Fabric OS.
Note: Options purchased separately require you to obtain a license. See the next
section, “Obtaining Optional Software License Keys from HP.”
