The following table describes the port status LEDs located above each port on the left.
The following table describes the port speed LEDs located above each port on the right.
Color of LED Status of Hardware Recommended Action
No light No light or signal carrier (media or
cable) is detected.
Verify that media and cable are both
firmly seated and functional.
Steady green Port is online (connected to an external
device) but has no traffic.
No action required.
Slow-flashing
green (on 1
second; off 1
second)
Port is online but segmented,
indicating a loopback cable or
incompatible switch.
Verify correct device is connected to
port.
Fast-flashing
green (on 1/4
second; off 1/4
second)
The port is in internal loopback
(diagnostic).
No action required.
Flickering green Port is online, with traffic flowing
through port.
No action required.
Steady orange Port is receiving light or signal carrier,
but is not yet online.
No action required.
Slow-flashing
orange (on 1
second; off 1
second)
The port is disabled
(result of diagnostics or portDisable
command).
Reset the port from a management
station.
Fast-flashing
orange (on 1/4

second)
The port is faulty. Reset the switch from a management
station.
Alternating green
and yellow
Port is bypassed. Reset the port from a management
station.
