7. Check the Command View XP management station for errors associated
with the array.
8. If Exchange copies fail because of a failed integrity check, verify that
eseutil.exe and ese.dll are installed on the recovery server. Integrity
checks will not work without them, and a failed integrity check causes
a failed copy.
9. The VSS Hardware Provider may not be able to make the copy because
it has run out of copy space. Return to the disk array to create more
shadow copy LUNs and then run the HP XP VSS Hardware Provider
Configuration Utility (in Windows Start/Programs/Hewlett-Packard) to
repopulate the configured LUNs.
10. Supporting software may not be installed or configured properly. Verify
configuration and installation as explained in chapters 2 and 3.
11. Use a process of elimination to determine which components are not
working. You can do this by testing components individually:
• Test VSS by creating a shadow copy on a local drive using the
Windows Disk Management/Shadow Copy feature. See Windows
Help for instructions.
• Test array copy capability by using Business Copy to create PVOL
and SVOL pairs and copy the PVOL to the SVOL. See the HP
StorageWorks Business Copy User Guide for instructions.
• Bypass FRS and test VSS, HWP, and the array by using the
Microsoft vshadow utility available in the Microsoft VSS Software
Developer’s Kit to create snapshots. See the Microsoft
documentation for instructions. If you can create snapshots without
FRS, FRS may not be properly installed or configured.
