Troubleshooting
The following pages present typical problems and solutions as well as
suggested testing methods.
Checking logs
Checking event logs is often the first step when trying to identify problems.
Error messages in the logs may indicate the problem.
• Check application event logs associated with Exchange, FRS, and HP
VSS Hardware Provider.
• Check Windows system event logs for DCOM misconfiguration
errors.
Common problems and solutions are also listed below.
Problems/solutions
The following problems and solutions may help you if you have an issue
with FRS or the associated systems and software.
FRS does not recognize LUNs
This is almost certainly a configuration problem. See Chapter 2
Configuration and look for the following most likely problems:
1. LUNs may not be properly set up for copying and recovery. Production
LUNs must be created, and an equal or greater number of recovery
LUNs of the identical size and emulation must also be created.
2. The recovery LUNs may not be in a host group named SVOL on the
array, which is a requirement of HP VSS HWP.
3. Production server WWNs may not have been associated with array
ports. This is required for the array to recognize the server.
4. LUN security may be off. LUN security must be ON for production and
recovery LUNs.
