HP StorageWorks XP Fast Recovery Solution administration guide: Windows Server 2003 (B9552-96004, September 2005)
Configuration 31
Configuration summary
Before you install FRS, configure the array and the FRS servers as follows:
• Install and configure the FRS production server(s) and recovery
server(s) with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
with SP1. Install any required Microsoft quick fixes (QFEs) also.
• Install JRE 1.4.2 or later from Sun on the recovery server(s).
• Establish SAN and LAN connectivity between all servers and the disk
array. Any firewall must be open between the FRS production and
recovery servers, the CV management station, and the disk array.
• If path redundancy is required, install HP SecurePath or HP XP DSM
MPIO on all production and recovery servers.
• On the production server, install and configure the Exchange server
software.
• On the Command View XP management station, install Secure
Manager XP and Business Copy XP licenses.
• List production and recovery server IPs in the Command View XP
management station access.txt file.
• List CV station IP on SVP snmpagt.exe manager page (if required).
• On the XP disk array, create at least two production LUNs and present
them to the production server. Create a host group called “SVOL” and
create within that host group at least two recovery LUNs of the same
emulation type and size as the production LUNs.
• On the XP disk array, create command device LUNs and present them
to the production and recovery servers.
• Ensure databases or mailboxes within a given storage group all reside
on the same LUN, and ensure log files reside on the same LUN as the
associated databases or storage groups.
• Install HP RAID Manager Library software on production and
recovery servers.
• Install HP VSS Hardware Provider on production and recovery servers.
• Install HP FRS software on production and recovery servers.
• On recovery servers if Exchange is not installed, copy the Exchange
eseutil.exe and ese.dll files to the HP FRS installation directory.
