HP StorageWorks XP Fast Recovery Solution administration guide: Windows Server 2003 (B9552-96004, September 2005)

Configuration 27
Required hardware components
HP StorageWorks Disk Array: XP128, XP1024, or XP12000 with
Business Copy license and Secure Manager XP installed.
Windows Command View XP management station with Windows
Server 2003 or Windows Server 2000 SP4 for connecting to the array.
A 2+ GHz CPU, 1 GB of memory, and 1 GB or more of disk space are
recommended. Command View XP must be installed and SNMP must
enabled.
Production Server with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
with SP1. This server runs Exchange and manages storage and
retrieval of application data on the production volumes of the array.
Server specifications must meet minimum Microsoft OS requirements.
Recovery Server with Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition with
SP1. The recovery server contains the FRS GUI and manages the array
recovery volumes and recovery administration. Server specifications
must meet minimum Microsoft OS requirements.
Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) in each server for
connecting to the disk array via a Fibre Channel SAN.
Fiber cables and fabric switch(es) to connect the hosts to the array.
(A fabric switch is optional; you can use direct connections if you
prefer. You can also use multiple switches in a multipathing
arrangement.)
Ethernet network interface cards or built-in ports in each server
for connecting to Ethernet LANs.
A private LAN without a firewall is recommended between the CV
server, SVP, and the production and recovery servers. You may also
connect the servers to the corporate LAN; in this case a firewall may
be used, but it must be open between the servers if the corporate LAN
is their only means of communication. If you experience shadow copy
timeouts, the firewall is the likely cause.
Important: The Windows Network Connections control panel
Advanced Settings must be set to list first the network that provides
communication between the FRS servers and the CV server.
