Snapshot Requirements and Limitations
The following are snapshot requirements and limitations for HSG- and HSV-based
storage systems.
HSG-based Storage System Snapshot Requirements
• ACS version 8.6S, 8.6P, 8.7S, or 8.7P
• Dual HSG80 controllers
• 512 MB of cache per controller
• Mirrored cache
HSG-based Storage System Snapshot Limitations
• There can be no more than four snapshots per storage system.
• You cannot make a snapshot of a snapshot.
• You cannot make a snapshot of a unit that already has a snapshot.
• You cannot make a snapshot of a controller partition.
• You cannot make a snapshot of an initiator-side remote copy set.
• You cannot make a snapshot of a concatset.
• A snapshot and its source unit must both be in the same unit number range from 0
to 99 or from 100 to 199.
• Snapshots are not fault tolerant and will not survive a path or controller failover.
HSV-based Storage System Snapshot Requirements
• VCS version 2.0
• A valid snapshot license
HSV-based Storage System Snapshot Limitations
• There can be no more than seven simultaneous snapshots of a given virtual disk.
• You cannot mix fully allocated and demand allocated snapshot types on the same
virtual disk.
