Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Network Administration Guide 525
Configuring the EVM Network
To save EVM jobs and configuration information, use the EVM Configuration Save
feature.
HP recommends saving the configuration information to a host computer within the
EVM network. To ensure that the backup files remain current, HP also recommends
saving this information on a continual basis, either periodically or whenever an EVM
job is created, modified, or deleted.
Typically, saving the configuration requires less than one megabyte of storage. In
extreme cases, the amount of storage required might exceed a few megabytes.
Using the Reload Configuration Feature
After a configuration is saved, the reload feature can be used to download this
information from the host computer to the Management Appliance.
Because a reload is primarily required following a failure, some manual cleanup is
expected. In particular, any EVM job that was running at the time of the failure must
be reviewed, cleaned up, and rerun.
Save Procedure
Complete the following procedure to save an EVM job and configuration data:
1. Browse to the EVM GUI.
2. Click the Configuration tab.
The EVM Configuration page displays, with the Save/Reload menu selected
(see Figure 54).
3. On the Save/Reload menu, choose a host computer to save to.
HP recommends always using the same host computer for subsequent saves. This
ensures that only one set of EVM configuration files exists outside of the
Management Appliance, preventing the possibility of reloading an incorrect set.
