Configuring the EVM Network
• EVM displays icons for noncluster volumes that are associated with individual
hosts in the cluster, plus icons for cluster volumes that are associated with the
cluster itself.
EVM Network Configuration Rules
When planning an EVM V2.0D network, keep the following considerations in mind:

• Node Visibility to the Management Appliance
• Storage System Limitation
• Multiple Storage System Support
• Element Manager Requirements
• Using EVM in a DRM Configuration
• Using the Save Configuration Feature
• Using the Reload Configuration Feature
• Save Procedure
Minimum EVM 2.0D Network Requirements
Each EVM V2.0D network requires the following:
• A Management Appliance with the Open SAN Manager (OSM) January 2002
Update.
• EVM V2.0D Server software installed on the Management Appliance.
• At least one EVM host agent node.
• At least one compatible storage system.
IMPORTANT: To use EVM with HSV-based storage systems, you must separately enter
the same user name and password that you entered in the OSM Account Login page. See
the Online Help/User Guide for HSV password details.
• A VCS snapshot license to use EVM with an HSV-based system.
• Access to a qualified Web browser (see Table 5–12 on page 5–13)
