Enterprise Volume Manager (Multi-OS) Network Administration Guide 5–17
Configuring the EVM Network
The EVM Host Agent V2.0D for HP Tru64 UNIX is supported on host clusters that
use HP TruCluster, with the following limitations:
• If the node running the EVM host agent fails during the execution of a job, that
job will fail. Undoing and re-execution of the job should succeed.
• A BCV presented by EVM is visible to all nodes in the cluster as long as one of
the first two nodes (listed as active at the time the job was run) remains active.
• Host agent software is installed to the cluster and resides on a share drive that is
visible to each node. The user has access to the first two active nodes listed. A job
will fail when the node running the EVM host agent fails during job execution.
Undoing and re-executing the job should succeed.
HP-UX
The EVM Host Agent V2.0D for HP-UX is not cluster-aware and is not supported on
host clusters that use Hewlett-Packard MC/ServiceGuard.
IBM AIX
The EVM Host Agent V2.0D for IBM AIX is not cluster-aware and is not supported
on host clusters that use IBM HACMP (High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing).
Sun Solaris
The EVM Host Agent V2.0D for Sun Solaris is not cluster-aware and is not supported
on host clusters that use Sun Cluster.
Windows 2000
The EVM Host Agent V2.0D for Windows 2000 is not cluster-aware, but is supported
on host clusters that use MSCS (Microsoft Cluster Service) for Windows 2000
Advanced Server and Windows 2000 Datacenter Server, with the following
limitations:
• A node becomes unavailable for job operations when the node running the EVM
host agent fails.
• If you are creating a BCV of the cluster quorum disk, do not mount the BCV on a
member of the same cluster.
• Host cluster support should be installed only on MSCS cluster nodes. Enabling
this feature on nonclustered systems causes undesirable side effects. Host cluster
support need be enabled on only one node of the cluster.
