Migration Planning
5. Run and successfully complete each affected undo job, as desired.
CAUTION: This is a critical step. Failure to run an undo job prior to the migration can
cause unpredictable results after the migration, including loss of data on BCVs.
Printing EVM Jobs Information for the Old EVM Network
HP recommends the printing of all EVM job information before starting the
migration. Even though EVM jobs created in the old EVM network cannot be used in
the new EVM V2.0D network, the printed job data may be useful when re-creating the
old jobs in the new network.
To print the EVM jobs information for the old EVM network:
1. From the EVM server, use a text editor (such as Notepad) to browse to folder
...\Compaq\EVM\Bin\Jobs.
2. Open an EVM job file.
A job file has a filename format of job_name.evj
3. Print the file.
4. Repeat step 2 and step 3 for all EVM job files.
NOTE: Omit the EVM undo job files. They are not needed.
5. Keep the job printouts together for use while creating the EVM V2.0D jobs (see
“Re-creating EVM V1.x Jobs as EVM V2.0D Jobs” on page 12–5).
Migration Process Overview
After preparing the EVM network planning worksheets, reviewing and responding to
the EVM network migration considerations, and performing the preliminary migration
steps, the next step is to begin the actual migration. This section presents the
recommended sequence of migration steps for a multi-computer EVM network.
NOTE: Even if you are migrating a single computer that is operating as a complete EVM V1.x
network, read all the sections regarding the migration to acquire an understanding of the overall
migration process.
1. Perform all necessary preliminary migration steps, as recommended on
page 12–2.
2. Install a Management Appliance and connect the appliance to the desired LAN
and Fibre Channel SAN (refer to Management Appliance documentation).
