The purpose of this document is to facilitate the delivery and installation of the HP StorageWorks

ESL E-Series tape library. Please review library unpacking instructions available from

ttp://www.hp.com/support/manuals before completing this sur vey document.

This Pre-installation site survey must be completed prior to installation of the tape librar y for the following

reasons:

• Advance pl

anning is necessary to make sure that the librar y can be received, unpacke d, moved

to the installation site, and installed.

• A tape librar y fully populated with 24 tape drives weighs approximately 1350 lbs. (612 kg).

Eachcabinetoccupiesafootprintof30x50inches(76x127cm),andis75inches(191

cm) tall.

CLM libraries require an additional 1 inch between cabinets and 52 inches (130 cm)

to the left of the primary cabinet (as you face the front of the library) for use during installing

and servicing of the CLM library.

Note any potential obstacles such as steps, ramps, carpet, thresholds, elevator size and weight ratings, raised floor weight ratings, and rough surfaces. Confirm the installation site selection is appropriate for the size and weight of the library.
