2. Use FTP to transf
er the fi rmware file to a temporary storage area
in the Interface Manager card’s memory.
a. To determine the IP address to use, look at the OCP on the
front of the library. From the Home screen, select the Status
tab, and then select Identity Sc reen.
b. On the host PC or laptop, open a command shell and navigate
to the direct
ory where the firmware you downloaded in Step
1 is located.
c. Enter the fo
llowing c ommand: ftp IPaddress
nl
wher e IPaddress is the IP address from the OCP.
d. Login with the following credentials:
User name: ftp
Password: Use your e-mail address
e. Enter binary m ode with the command: bin
f. If necessary, use the ls command to list the contents of the
FTP directory.
g. Enter the following command to copy the firmware file to the
temporary location in the Interface Manager card’s memory:

put filename
nl
wher e filename is the filename of the firmwar e file.
h. Use the quit comman d to log off the FTP session.
3. StartaTelnetsessiononthePCorlaptop:
a. From a command prompt, enter the following:

telnet IPaddress
nl
wher e IPaddress is the IP address from the OCP.
b. At the login prompt, enter the following information:
Username: admin
Password: admin
4. Enter the following command to update the firmw are:

down
load mgmt
5. Sta
rt a Telnet c onnection. (The Telnet connection will have been
los
tduringthefirmware update.)
6. Enter the following command to verif y that the firmware was
updated correctly: show mgmt revision
7. Enter the following comman d to set the system date and time:

set mgmt clock MMDDhhmmyy
wher e:

MM is the month

DD is the date

hh is the hour in 24-hour format

mm is the minute
nl
yy is the last two digits of the year
8. Log o
ff the Telnet connection and disconnect the host PC or laptop
from the LAN.
To update the firmware with the GUI:
1. If you d o not already have the latest version of the Command View
TL software, install it by following the instructions in “Installing
Command View TL” in the HP StorageWorks Interface Manager
and Command View TL user guide.
2. To start Command View TL, click Start > All Programs > HP
Command View TL > Command View TL.
3. TheIPaddressofthelibrarymighthavechangedafterreplacing
the CompactFlash. To avoid having the library appear more than
once in the Command View TL Launcher window, remove the
original instance of the library, and then add it again.
a. In the Launcher window, click the Library Selectio n tab.
b. Selectthenameo
f the original library, and then select Actions
>RemoveLibrary.Confirm that you want to remove the library.
c. Click Actions > Add Library.
d. To determine the IP ad dress to use, look at the OCP on the
front of the library. From the Home screen, select the Status
tab, and then select Identity Sc reen.
e. Enter the IP address from the OCP, and then click OK.
4. To man age the library, double-click the name of the library that
contains th
e Interface Manager card in which you replaced the
CompactF la
sh. You must log in as either the admin or service user.
Other users cannot update firmwar e.
5. Update the firmwar e.
a. Click the Support tab.
b. In the left panel, select Firmware Update.
c. Select Actions > Launch Firmware Update Wizard.
d. Follow the instructions in the wizard. On page 2 of the wiza rd,
select t
he Interface Manager checkbox.
6. Set the
system date and time.
a. Click t
he Configuration tab.
b. In the left panel, select Library Settings.
c. Select Actions > Edit System Date/Time.
Close the library door
