This kit contains two parts. The repairs of these two

parts are completely independent; you will not be

replacing them at the same time. Save the part that

you are not replacing should you need it in the future.

Replacing the counterweight cable

You will need the following tool for this procedure:

• 3/16-inch Allen wrench

To replace the counterweight cable assembly:

1. Turn off the library.

2. Unlock and o pen both front doors of the library.

3. Slide out the lower-left, upp er-left, and upper-right bin panels.

Release the latch and pull the handle of the panel until the panel

stops.

4. Set a small, sturdy box on the library ﬂoor under the counterweight.

The box must be able to suppor t 17 l bs (7.7 kg).

TIP:

If you don’t have a box or similar object, you can use two old

tape cartridges that you are no longer using for data placed

on their sides.

5. Lift the robot until the counterweight rests on the box. 8. Remove the two 3/16-inch Allen-head screws from the counterweight. CAUTION: In the next step, the robot will be heavy (17 lbs or 7.7 kg). Be sure to hold it securely. 6. Hold onto the robot and detach the counterweight cable from the back, right corner of the robot. 11919 9. Slide the counterweight and the box it is sitting on forward so you can access the counterweight latch. 11921 10.

13. Reattach the counterweight to the rail and secure with the two screws previously removed. 14. Route the counterweight cable through the pulleys, raise the robot, and attach the cable to the robot. 11913 4. Remove the two screws that attach the sensor to the robot with a #1 Phillips screwdriver. IMPORTANT: Be careful not to drop the screws. 11923 15. Lower the robot and remove the box that you used to support the counterweight from the library. 16. Slide in the bin panels. 17.

8. Plug in the new vertical sensor cable. Orient the connector so the wires point down. 9. Install a tie wrap around both of the cables that are on the bottom of the robot. 10. Move the robot down to the bottom of the cabinet so you can see the sensor through the cutout. 11. Attach the vertical sensor to the robot with two screws. The vertical sensor can be oriented in either direction. IMPORTANT: Be careful not to drop the screws. 12. Close the front doors of the library. 13. Turn on the library.
