2 Hardware Installation
Unpacking the box
Unpack the e2400-FC 4G in an area clear of any clutter.
1. Remove all items from the shipping container. Check each item for any damage. Keep the
e2400-FC 4G in the protective bag until you are ready to install it.
2. Make sure you have received all the equipment you ordered. If an item is missing, contact your
sales representative immediately.
Installing the e2400-FC 4G and connecting the FC cables
With new HP StorageWorks ESL E-Series tape libraries, the e2400-FC 4G is installed at the
factory. To upgrade to an e2400-FC 4G interface controller, contact HP support. If you are
replacing an interface controller, refer to the replacement instructions poster.
With new HP StorageWorks EML E-Series tape libraries, the e2400-FC 4G is installed at the
factory. To upgrade or replace an interface controller, refer to the installation or replacement
poster.

CAUTION: Do not install or replace more than one interface controller at a time.
NOTE: The e2400-FC 4G requires a substantial amount of force to properly seat within the card
cage. Make sure that the handles are fully engaged with the guide rails.
Preparing the e2400-FC 4G for configuration
To prepare the controller for configuration after installation, you must reset the controller twice. To
reset the controller, insert a paper clip (or similar sharp object) into the Reset hole (see Figure 1).
After resetting the controller, wait three minutes for the controller to reset, then reset it again. Wait
another three minutes for the controller to reset, and then use HP StorageWorks Command View for
Tape Libraries Software (Command View TL) to configure the controller. Refer to the HP
StorageWorks Interface Manager and Command View for Tape Libraries Software user guide for
instructions.
CAUTION: If you do not allow sufficient time for the controller to reset before resetting it again, the
Interface Manager card will not recognize the controller.
