T 24. Check the status of remote copy sets with the following command:
SHOW REMOTE_COPY_SETS
Example Display 43 shows a remaining remote copy set.
Example Display 43
Name Uses Used by
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RCS1 remote copy D1
T 25. Remove the remote copy set from the target site. Use the following commands to delete the RCS
and then check its status:
DELETE RemoteCopySetName
Example: delete rcs1
SHOW REMOTE_COPY_SETS
The display should indicate that there are no remote copy sets.
T 26. Perform a final check of the target site with the following commands:
SHOW UNITS FULL
Check the output to ensure all settings are correct.
I 27. Perform a final check of the initiator site using the following command:
SHOW UNITS FULL
Compare the output display with the settings in step 1 of this procedure to ensure all settings are
returned to their previous state.
I 28. Depending on how access to the hosts was denied previously, do one of the following:
• reboot
• turn access back on for each remote copy set
• set the port_1_topology to fabric
This completes the Disaster Tolerant Data Movement From One Data Set Type to Another example.
Non-Disaster Tolerant Data Movement to a Larger Capacity
Procedure
If the data being moved is in a non-disaster tolerant environment, then it can be moved with fewer steps
than when it has to be protected from loss. This method can be used to move data to a larger capacity
device in a non-disaster tolerant environment. Refer to Figure 13. Use this procedure for Data
Migration.
IMPORTANT: This procedure assumes the controller is in a multibus configuration (DRM compatible). The host
does not need to be in a multibus configuration.
Once data is moved to a larger capacity drive at the target site, the initiator site should be upgraded with a drive of
nearly the same volume capacity. This allows data to move in either direction, as may be the case with a site role
reversal.
