Data Replication Manager Windows-Based Server with Single Host Bus Adapter - Application Notes
Conclusion
Application Notes – Data Replication Manager Windows-Based Server with Single Host Bus Adapter 17
Conclusion
The functionality of single FC HBA servers in a DRM environment has been verified successfully. No
changes to any of the software components are necessary.
Single FC HBA server features are supported as follows:
• Support for single-attached servers running Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 in a DRM
configuration.
• Support for single-attached servers running Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 in a single SAN
with dual-attached servers in a DRM configuration.
• Support for single-attached servers running Windows NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 in a single SAN
with other operating systems.
• Single-attached servers require a single SAN, so one Fibre Channel fabric may contain multiple
Fibre Channel switches.
Glossary
This glossary defines terms relevant to the Data Replication Manager and single host bus adapter
configurations.
association set A group of remote copy sets that share common attributes. Members
of an association set are configured to transition to the same state at
the same time. An association set:
• Shares the same log unit
• Has its host access removed from all members when one member
fails
• Keeps I/O order across all members
• Fails over to the alternate controller in the event of primary
controller failure.
ATM Asynchronous transfer mode. ATM refers to a network or
communications technology used in LANs and WANs to enable
disparate traffic (data, voice, and video) to be carried over the same
local or wide area network. ATM is the transfer mode of choice for
broadband integrated services digital networks (BISDNs). ATM
traffic carries information in fixed-size cells.
controller A hardware device that uses software to facilitate communications
between a host and one or more storage devices organized in an
array. Also called array controller. The HS-series StorageWorks
family of controllers are all array controllers.
default gateway The default path that a computer or router uses to forward and route
data between two or more networks that have different protocols.
