Failure of HSG80 at Remote Site
If an HSG80 controller at the remote site fails, the peer controller at the local site is unable to
communicate with the failed controller at the remote site. When the failure is detected (after 20-25
seconds), the controller at the local site fails over all units to the other controller at the local site. When
the failed controller at the remote site is replaced by a functional controller, the units that failed over
then fail back to the original controller at the local site. Figure 7 demonstrates what Secure Path will
show.
NOTE: Figure 7 shows one controller marked with a Warning signal because there are no units on line
to that controller at the momentall units failed over to the other controller in the same HSG80
controller pair.

Failure of FC Switch at Remote Site
There is no difference in behavior between a failure of this component and the loss of the ISL to the
remote site. The net result is that both controllers at the local site are unable to communicate with the
controllers at the remote site. See the section titled Failure of Intersite Link (ISL).
Failure of Cable Between FC Switch and HSG80 Host Port 2 (Right Port)
at Remote Site
There is no difference in behavior between a failure of this cable and the loss of an HSG80 controller at
the remote site. The net result is that the controller at the local site is unable to communicate with the
controller at the remote site. See the section titled "Failure of HSG80 at Remote Site."
