Failback Procedures
Preparing the Initiator Site
1. Shut down the initiator host(s) if it is still up and running. (This is not necessary for
OpenVMS.)
2. Manually reconfigure the controllers, but do not re-create the original remote copy
sets. This procedure includes the following steps:
a. Set node ID and checksum (this information can be found on the original initiator
BA370 cab). See the Configuration chapter for information on the node ID and
worldwide name.
b. For OpenVMS, set the SCSI version to 3 and set the Identifier to its previous
value by using the following commands:
SET THIS SCSI_VERSION = SCSI-3)
SET THIS IDENTIFIER = value (Example: SET THIS IDENTIFIER = 99)
c. SET MULTIBUS_FAILOVER COPY = THIS
d. (Optional) Designate a controller prompt name using the following CLI
commands:
SET THIS_CONTROLLER PROMPT= InitiatorControllerNameTop > “
SET OTHER_CONTROLLER PROMPT= InitiatorControllerNameBottom > “
e. Set mirrored cache.
f. SET REMOTE_COPY = InitiatorRemoteCopyName
g. Run the Configuration utility to assign a disk name to physical disks using the
following CLI command:
RUN CONFIGURATION
h. Create and initialize storage sets and units.
NOTE: Steps c, e, and f will cause the controller pair to restart.
i. For OpenVMS, set the device ID on all units by using the following command:
SET UNIT IDENTIFIER = value (Example: SET D1 ID = 1) This becomes the VMS device ID for
DGA1.
3. Disable access to all units by issuing the following CLI command:
SET UnitName DISABLE=ALL
Repeat this step for all units.
