Adding a firmware version
The firmware version shipped with the Edge Switch is provided on the Edge Switch documentation
CD. Subsequent firmware versions to upgrade the Edge Switch are provided to customers through
the HP web site:
http://www.hp.com/country/us/eng/storage.html
NOTE: When adding a firmware version, follow procedural information in the release notes that
accompany the firmware version. The information in the release notes supplements information
provided in the following general procedure.
Use these steps to add an Edge Switch firmware version to the library stored on the HAFM
appliance hard drive:
1. Obtain the new firmware version from the web site:
NOTE: The following path is subject to change.
a. At the HAFM appliance or other PC with Internet access, go to the HP web site:
http://www.hp.com/country/us/eng/storage.html

b. Locate the IT storage products section of the web site.
c. Under IT storage products, locate the Networked storage subsection.
d. Select SAN infrastructure.
The SAN infrastructure page is displayed.
e. Locate the Fibre Channel Switches section.
f. Go to the M-Series Fabric subsection and select Edge Switch 2/24.
The HP StorageWorks Edge Switch 2/24 page is displayed.
g. Locate the Product information section and select Software, firmware & drivers.
The specify operating system page for your product is displayed.
h. Locate the select operating system section and select Cross operating system (BIOS,
Firmware, Diagnostics, etc.).
The download drivers and software page for the selected product is displayed.
i. Locate the Firmware section and select download next to the firmware you want to
download.
The Windows Save As dialog box is displayed
j. Verify or correct the directory path specified in the Save in box, and the file name specified
in the File name box.
k. Click Save.
The new firmware version is downloaded and saved to the HAFM appliance or PC hard
drive.
