9. A grey square with a yellow exclamation mark is displayed adjacent to the icon representing the
reset switch, indicating the Edge Switch is not communicating with the management appliance.
Change the Edge Switch IP address and restart the management appliance session as follows:
a. At the HAFM application, delete the icon representing the reset switch by selecting Setup
from the Discover menu.
The Discover Setup dialog box is displayed (Figure 38 on page 64).
b. Select (highlight) the entry representing the reset switch in the Available Addresses window
and click Remove.
c. At the Discover Setup dialog box, click OK.
The Edge Switch is no longer defined to the management appliance.
d. Change an Edge Switch’s IP address through the maintenance port at the rear of the Edge
Switch.

e. Identify the Edge Switch to the HAFM application.
For instructions, see ”Configuring Edge Switch identification” on page 42.
Switch-to-management appliance communication is restored and the procedure is complete.
Enabling the HAFM Basic interface
To enable or disable the HAFM Basic interface:
• At the Hardware view, select Configure > Enable Web Server.
Selecting Enable Web Server automatically places a check mark in the check box.
• Select Enable Web Server again to remove the check mark and disable the HAFM Basic
interface.
When disabled, remote users cannot access the interface.

on page 69.
Enabling Telnet
Use the following steps to enable Telnet:
• At the Hardware view, select Configure > Enable Telnet.
Selecting Enable Telnet automatically places a check mark in the check box.
• Select Enable Telnet again to remove the check mark and disable Telnet access.
When disabled, remote users cannot access the Edge Switch through Telnet.
Connecting the Edge Switch to a fabric
To provide Fibre Channel connectivity between public devices and fabric-attached devices, connect
the Edge Switch to an expansion port (E_Port) of an HP Director or Edge Switch. The switch-port-to-
switch-port connection is called an interswitch link (ISL). To fabric-attach the Edge Switch and create
an ISL:
