Set Online State
Use the procedure in this section to display the current switch operating state
(offline or online) and change the state as required.
Caution: Before setting the switch offline, warn administrators and users
currently operating devices that are attached to the switch that it is going
offline and that there will be a disruption of communications. Make sure
administrators of device(s) attached to ports quiesce Fibre Channel traffic
through the switch.
To set the switch online or offline (depending on current state), use the following
steps:
1. Right-click on the switch in the Hardware View and select Set Online State
in the menu, or select Set Online State from the Maintenance menu on the
menu bar.
One of the following dialog boxes displays, depending on the current
operating state.

2. Click Set Offline or Set Online, depending on the operating state you want to
set.
3. When a warning box displays requesting you to confirm the offline or online
state, click OK.
As the switch goes offline, OFFLINE displays in the State field of the Switch
Status table in the Hardware View. LED indicators on all ports with attached
devices stay green, but the switch is sending offline sequences (OLSs) to these
devices.
