ONFIGURING THE HP EFS
Out-of-Path. An out-of-path deployment is a network configuration in
which the HP EFS WAN Accelerator is not in the direct or logical path
between the client and the server. In an out-of-path deployment, the
HP EFS WAN Accelerator acts as a proxy. An out-of-path configuration
is suitable for data center locations when physical in-path or logical in-
path configurations are not possible.

Checking Your Inventory
Your shipping carton contains the following items:
The HP EFS WAN Accelerator—the HP ProLiant DL320-510, DL320-1010,
DL320-2010, DL380-3010, or DL380-5010 (depending on your order)
One CAT-5E straight-through cable
One CAT-5E crossover cable
One RS-232 serial null modem cable
One or two rack mount power cables (depending on your order). In
addition, you may have one or two power cables specific to your region or
country.
One rail kit
Documentation set CD-ROM specific to your order
If any items are damaged or missing, notify HP technical support at
http://www.hp.com for replacement or repair.
Preparing Your Site for Installation
The HP EFS WAN Accelerator is completely assembled with all the equipment
parts in place and securely fastened.
Before you install the HP EFS WAN Accelerator, make sure your site meets the
following requirements:
