B-2 TrueCopy for z/OS Scripting
Hitachi Universal Storage Platform V TrueCopy for IBM z/OS User’s Guide
Overview of Scripting
An added benefit of the TrueCopy feature is its support for scripting
operations. This capability provides the user with additional flexibility in
managing their TCz environment. A TCz script file contains a list of macros
(commands) which describes a series of TCz pair operations. The scripting
macros are defined in a text file, and the TCz software reads the text file and
executes the specified TCz pair operations. A TCz script file that was created
for TagmaStore USP/NSC or an earlier storage system model can also be used
for USP V TCz.
Note: This appendix assumes that the user is familiar with batch files and
does not provide instructions for writing or editing batch files. The macro
commands and parameters listed in this appendix are the only commands
recognized by the TCz scripting function.
WARNING: The user is responsible for testing the TCz scripting function
before running any TCz scripts. If a TCz script is run without prior testing and
the script ends abnormally, data loss could occur. Before testing a TCz script,
back up the data and vary the volumes offline. If the volumes must remain
online, back up the data and confirm that the target pair defined in the TCz
script is correct. The results of a TCz script can be confirmed by checking the
latest TCz pair status update (Last Updated field on TCz Detailed Information
dialog box).
Table B.1 lists the TCz pair macro commands. Table B.2 lists the internal
macro commands for TCz scripting. The following TCz operations cannot be
performed using TCz scripting and must be performed using the Storage
Navigator computer:
Configure serial/fibre ports
Monitor remote copy activity
Clear remote copy SIMs
Add/delete RCU
Change RCU options
Add/delete path/SSID
View RCU status
Change async options
Add/delete group
Change group options
View group status)
Note: The scripting command names did not change when the product name
changed from HRC to TrueCopy. Your existing 7700E HRC scripting files can be
used for TCz operations.
