Setting the Asynchronous Copy Options
The A sync Option dialog box (see Figure 32 on page 84) allows you to set and modify the Continuous
Access Asynchronous copy option parameters for the connected storag e system. To open the Async
Option dialo
g
box, right-click the CT groups, and click the Async O ption command.
The async options apply to the entire physical control unit, including all Continuous Access P-VOLs
andS-VOLsbehindthe controlunit.

The CLPR(#) drop-down list allows you to specify the CLPR ID. The default set ting is 00.
The Pending Update Data Rate (%) o p tion allows you to specify the Continuous Access Asynchronous
(and
TrueCopy Asynchronous for Mainframe) sidefile threshold, which is the maximum amount of cache
that can be used for storing Continuous Access (and TrueCopy for Mainframe) A synchronous recordsets
(sidefiles). You can select any value bet ween 30% a nd 70 % (10% increments) . For further information on
the
si
defile infl ow control, see “Inflow Control of Recordsets” on page 24.
Note:
The current pending update data rate is common to both Continuous Access and TrueCopy
for Mainframe operations. The most recently entered value (on the Continuous Access or TrueCopy
Asynchronous for Mainframe Option dialog box) will be applied to all Continuous Access Asynchronous
opera
tions.
Note:
Yo u can specify the Pending Update Data Rate from the Async Option dialog box of TrueCopy
for M ainframe. If the value of the specified Pending Update Data Rate is less than the value of the I/O
Delay Start or the I/O Delay Increase that you specified from the Async Option dialog box of Continuous
Access, the Pending Update Data Rate is available.
The I/O Delay Start option allows you to specify the threshold (30-70%), which is the maximum amount
of
ca
che for starting the infl ow control for the asynchronous copy. When the amount of cache that is used
