RCU Target: Allows you to change the selected bre por t(s) to RCU targets.
Target: Allows you to change the selected bre por t(s) to target ports.
5. For the MCU&RCU display, click the menu command for the desired operation. When two or
more RCUs are selected, only the RCU Operation command is available. For the add and
change operations, use the dialog box to perform the operation, and click Set to close the dialog
box. There is no dialog box for the delete operation. The RCU Operation preview list displays
the
requested operation(s). To cancel the add or change operation, click Cancel.
For the Port display, select the desired port type. The RCU Operation preview list displays the
requested port change operation(s).
6. Verify the specied RCU or port operation(s) in the preview list. Make changes as follows:
a. For the MC U & RCU display, to change an operation, select the desired operation (RCU,
path, or SSID), right-click it, click Modify, make the desired changes, and close the dialog
box. The preview list displays the updated information.
For the Port display, to change the port type, select the desired port, right-click it, and select
the
desired port t ype. The preview list displays the updated information.
b. To omit one or more operations, select the operation(s) to be omitted (RCU, path, SSID, or
port), right-click, and click Delete. The o perations are removed from the preview list. If all
operations are removed, the list returns to its original display.
c. To ca ncel all operations, select all the o perations in the preview list, right-click, and click
the
Delete command, or click the Cancel button. All operations are removed, and the
list returns to its original display.
7. To start the operation(s), click the Apply button.
Conguring the Host Interface Ports
The Continuous Access software allows you to change the conguration of the storage system host
interface ports as needed to accomm odate the desired host and Continuous Access co m munications
paths.
The storage system Fibre Channel interface ports can be congured as target ports (default), initiator
ports, or RCU target por ts (see Initiator Ports and RCU Target Ports on page 17).
Target
:
The FibreChannelports whichwillbeconnected to thehostmustbecongured as target
ports (
default). Target mode is used for the host p rocessor channel interface.
Initiator : The Fibre Channel por ts which will be used for Continuous Access communications to
theRCUs must becongured as i nitiator ports. Initiator mode emulates a host channel to enable
the
MCU to send write I /O operations directly to the RCU target por t.
Note:
Two or more initiator ports must be congured before you can add the RCUs a nd create
the
Co
ntinuous Access pairs.
RCU target: The Fibre Channel por ts in the RCU that will be used to communicate with the
MCUs
must be congured as RCU target ports.
External: This at tribute can be set using HP StorageWorks XP External Storage Software. The
external port is used for External Storage, not Continuous Access. To use this por t for Continuous
Acc
ess, change the attribute to the initiator, RCU target, or tar get port.
Initiator/E xternal: This set ting shows the com bination of ports that have initiator por t and external
port attributes. Only the port that has an initiator port attribute within these ports can be used
for
Continuous Access. This attribute cannot be changed using the Continuous Access software.
Fo
r
details on the port to which an initiator/external mix mode is set, see the HP StorageWorks
XP
24000 External Storage Software User’s Guide.
Note:
The port assigned to an SLPR other tha n SLPR0 can b e set to the Target port attribute only.
WARNING:
Before changing a Fibre Channel por t to an initiator por t, disconnect the port from the host,
release all a ffected Continuous Access pairs, delete all paths from the port to the MCU (if RCU target),
and then remove all channel paths to the port.
WA
RNING:
Before changing a Fibre Channel port from initiator to target or RCU target, release all
a
ffected Continuous Access pairs, delete all paths from the initiator port to the RCU, and then delete
the
RCU from the MCU.
