HP StorageWorks XP24000 Continuous Access Software User and Reference Guide, v01 (T5278-96002, June 2007)
3 Using t he Continuous Access GU I
TheContinuousAccessmainwindowand itssix tabs (see “Continuous Access Windows” on page 55)
provide access to all Continuous Access operations: pair operations, RCU operations, asynchronous
operations, usage monitor, and history operations. The Continuous Access configuration operations
include RCU operations, asynchronous operations, and usage monitor. The Continuous Access pair
operations are described in “Performing Continuous Access Pair Operations”onpage99.
RCU operations. The RCU operations (see “RCU Operations”onpage69) configure the RCUs for
Continuous Access operations:
• Configuring the storage system host inter face ports for MCU-RCU connection,
• Adding an RCU,
• Setting the RCU options,
• Adding/deleting logical paths to an RCU,
• Adding/deleting IDs for an RCU,
• Viewing RCU status, and
• Deleting an RCU.
Asynchronous operations. The Asynchronous operations (see “Asynchronous Operations” on page 83)
configure the Continuous Access A synchronous consi stency groups and options:
• Setting the async options,
• Adding consistency groups,
• Viewing consistency group status,
• Changing the consistency group options,
• Changing the async options, and
• Deleting consistency groups.
Usage Monitor operations. The usage monitor operations (see “Usage Monitor Operations”onpage89)
enable
you to see the I/O statistics for the LDEVs on the storage system.
History. The history operations (see “History Operations” on page 92) enable you to export the remote
copy history file.
Optimizing Continuous Access operations. “Other Operations”onpage93and
“Optimizing Continuous Access Operations and Storage System Performance” on page 96 provide
information on optimizing Continuous Access operations and storage system performance by selecting
the
appropriate Continuous Access settings and options for your operational environment and also by
addressing conditions which can affect storage system performance.
Discontinuing Continuous Access operations. “Discontinuing Continuous Access Operations” on page 97
pro vides information on discontinuing Continuous Access operations. When you want to discontinue
Continuous Access operations, you must perform the required operations (for example, pair release, RCU
deletion, port reconfiguration) in a specific ord er to ensure smooth operations and avoid com ma nd
rejects and error conditions.
ContinuousAccessWindows
The Continuous Access windows (see Figure 17 on page 56) display the Continuous Access information
for the connected storage system and provides access to all Continuous Access functions and operations.
To
o
pen
the Continuous Access windows:
1. Using the Remote Web Console software , connect to and log on to the desired stor age sys tem
with Administrator access or Continuous Access write access.
