Enabling Continuous Access Options
You must enable the Continuous Access option(s) (Asynchronous and/or Synchronous) on the storage
systems using the Remote Web Console soft ware. Each Continuous Access option requires a separate
licensekey code, and each storagesystem requiresits ownseparateset of licensekey codes.
For instructions o n using the Remote Web Console software and enabling the Continuous Access
option(s)
,
see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Remote Web Console User’s Guide.
Note:
When you use Remote Web Console on UN IX workstations or in other non-Windows environments,
certain additional operating conventions must be followed. For details, see the HP StorageWorks
XP24000 Re
mote Web Console User’s Guide.
Disabling Continuous Access
For information on disabling the Continuous Access options, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 Remote
Web Console Users Guide.
Caution:
B
efore disabling a Continuous Access option, you must release all affected pairs and MCU-RCU
paths. Pl
ease see Discontinuing Continuous Access Operations on page 97 for instructions on
discontinuing Continuous Access operations.
Conguring the MCUs and RCUs for Continuous Access
Operations
After you have installed the Continuous Access hardware and software, you can congure the MCUs and
RCUs for Continuous Access operations.
To congure the MCUs and RCUs for Continuous Access Fibre Channel operations:
1. I d entify the volumes that will become the Continuous Access P-VOLs and S-VOLs. You need to
know the storage system S/N, SSID, and CU of ea ch Continuous Access volume, so that you can
congure the MCUs a nd RCUs correctly for your desired pairs and async groups. When you
create the pairs, you will ne ed to know the port, GID (host group ID), and LUN of each volume.
2. At the RCUs (that is, remote site), use the Continuous Access software to congure the Fibre
Channel
ports which are connected to the MCUs as RCU target ports (see Figure 12 on page 51)
(see Conguring theHostInterface Ports on page 70 for instructions).
3. At the ma in site, c onnect to and log on to the storage system that you want to congure as a
Continuous Access MCU. You must lo g on with Administrator or Continuous Access write access,
and
you must be in modify mode.
