Figure 4 on page 37 through Figure 7 on page 38 show the various Continuous Access/Business
Copy configurations which share volumes. Continuous Access sup ports synchronous an d asynchronous
operations for shared Continuous Access/Business Copy volumes.

Figure 4 on pa ge 37 shows an example of a Continuous Access P-VOL which is also functioning
as a Business Copy P-VOL. This configuration allows you to use Business Copy for on-s ite data
backup in case of a Continuous Access failure, and to use Continuous Access to provide remote
backup of the Business Copy P-VOL in case of a Business Copy failure.

Figure 5 on page 37 shows an example of a Continuous Access S-VOL which is also functioning
