Table 29 Resolving Continuous Access Asynchronous Suspension Conditions
Classication Causes of Suspension
SIM
Recovery procedure
MCU/RCU
hardware
Hardware redundancy has been lost
duetosomeblockadecondition. As
a
result, MCU-RCU communications,
creating or receiving recordsets, or the
staging or de-staging process could not
complete.
The pending recordset cannot be
retained because one side of cache
storage or shared memory has been
blocked due to hardware failure.
MCU-Creating/sending recordset
failed due to unrecoverable hardware
failure.
RCU-Reading/settling recordset failed
due to unrecoverable hardware failure.
The drive parity group was in
correction-access status while the
Continuous Access pair was in COPY
state.
DB0x
DB1x
DB2x
According to the SIM, remove the
hardware blockade or failure.
Re-establish failed pairs
(pairresync).
MCU-RCU
communication
During the power-on-reset sequence,
the
MCU could not communicate with
the
RCU within the specied RCU ready
timeout.
The RCU could not settle the pending
recordset or could not communicate
with the MCU before the copy pending
timeout
due to MCU not-ready or
inoperative facilities on the remote copy
connections.
DB0x
DB1x
Remove the failed condition at the
RCU/MCU or on the remote copy
connection.
Re-establish failed pairs
(pairresync).
RIO overload
The unrecoverable RIO (remote I/O)
timeout occurred d ue to an overload on
the
RCU or the communications facilities
on the
remote copy connections.
No recordset could be sent within the
specied copy pending timeout.
The RCU could not settle the pending
recordset before the copy pending
timeout
due to overload of the RIO or
the
RCU itself.
DB1x
Release failed pairs (pairsplit-S).
Reconsider the performance
resources necessary, and increase
resources as needed (cache
amount, number of MCU-RCU
paths, and so on).
Re-establish failed pairs
(paircreate).
RIO failure
TheRIO (remoteI/O)could not
complete duetothe failureatthe RCU.
DB2x
According to the SIM generated
on the
RCU, remove the failure.
Re-establish failed pairs
(pairresync).
MCU planned
outage
The Continuous Access A synchronous
pairs were temporarily suspended due
to a planned outage of the MCU.
DB8x
No recovery procedure is required.
The MCU will automatically remove
the suspension condition during
the nextpower-on-resetsequence.
Error Codes and Messages
The Remote Web Console software displays error messages when error conditions occur during
Continuous Access operations (see Figure 54 on page 142). The error message describes the error and
provides a part code and error code (Part Cod e = 6005, Error C od e = 8736 in Figure 54 on page 142).
The error message may also include a storage system SVP error code. If you need to call HP technical
support for assistance, report the error code(s). Please see the storage system document HP StorageWorks
