Figure 50 Pairsplit-r Dialog B ox (Synchronous and Asynchronous)
The pairsplit options are:
Volume: Port - GID - LUN of the selected volume.
Note:
If # is added to the end of an LDEV
number (for example, 00:00:3C#), the LDEV is an external volume. For details on external
volumes, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 External Storage Software User’s Guide.
S-VOL Write (default = disabled):
Enable: The S-VOL of this pair will accept read and write I/Os while the pair is split. If you
select Enable and you want to resync the pair later, select S-VOL from the Suspend kind option
on the
Pairsplit-r dialog box to ensure that the P-VOL and S-VO L bitmaps are merged at the
MCU. This option is available only when the selected volume is a Continuous Access P-VOL.
Disable: The S -VOL of this pair will a ccept only read I/Os while the pair is split.
Suspend Kind (default = S-VOL):
S-VOL: The P-VOL will accept all subsequent write I/O operations, and the MCU will keep
track of updates while the pair i s split. Subsequent write I/O operations to the P-VOL will be
accepted or rejected depending on the fence level of the pair. This setting is available from
the
MCU and RCU, and should be used if you need to keep the P-VOL online. All Continuous
Access Asynchronous pairs have this setting.
P-VOL Failure (available only for Continuous Access Synchronous and only when connected to
the
MCU): the MCU will reject all write I/O operations to the P-VOL while the pair is split,
regardless of the P-VOL fence level setting. This setting should be used i f you need to maintain
synchronization of the Continuous Access pair.
