Figure 48 Change Pair Option Di al og Box (Syn chronous and Asynchronous)
Volume: Por t - GI D (host g roup number) - LUN of the selected volume.
Note:
If # is added to the
end
of an LDEV number (for example, 00:00 :3C#), the LDEV is a n external volume. For details on
external volumes, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000 External Storage Software User’s Guide.
P-VOL Fence Level: Select the fence level for the new pair(s). The fence level determines the
conditions under which the MCU will reject write operations to the P-VOL. Never is automatically
set for an asynchronous pair. See Pair Options on page 110 for further information on this
option.
Never: The P-VOL will never be fenced.
Data: The P-VOL will be fenced when the MCU cannot successfully execute an update copy
operation for any reason.
Status: The P-VOL will be fenced only if the MCU is not able to change the S-VOL status to
suspended when an update copy o peration fails.
Asynchronous Parameters (async only):
Error Level: Error level for the new pair(s): Group or LU.
Note:
To set the parameters on multiple volumes at once without changing individual parameters per
volume, make the box for parameters that you do not want to change blank. Only the parameters that
you input will be changed.
The Cancel button cancels the settings you have m ad e and closes the Change Pair Option dialog box.
The Set button sets the pa rameters and closes the Change Pair Option dialog box.
To change the fence level or error level pair option for one or more Continuous Access pairs:
1. Connect to the MCU of the pair(s) for which you want to change the pair option, and o pen the
Continuous Access main window.
2. In the tree, select a port, host group, desired CU, or upper CU grouping.
3. In the list, select the pair(s) for which you want to change the pair option. When a port is
selected in the tree, the pair(s) can be selected from the current volume list.
Select either Continuous Access Synchronous pairs or Continuous Access Asynchronous pairs
(not both). Use the Display Filter as needed to display the desire d pairs (for example, select
Async o nly) (see Display Filter on page 103).
