HP StorageWorks XP24000 Continuous Access Journal Software User and Reference Guide, v01 (T5278-96001, June 2007)
Journal Transfer Speed of the DKC
The journal transfer speed of the DKC depends on the number of paths used for transferring journals. The
number of paths for transferring journals must be enough so that the journal transfer speed exceeds the
data transfer speed in the normal status mentioned earlier. The maximum number of paths for each pair
of the
primary DKC and the secondar y DKC is 8.
Performing Remote Copy Between an HP XP12000 Disk Array
and
an HP XP24000 Disk Array
Continuous Access Journal can be used to perform remote copy operations between an HP XP24000
Disk
Array and an HP XP12000 Disk Array. Data can be copied from the HP XP24000 Disk Array to the
HP
XP12000 Disk Array, or vice versa.
This section explains the following:
• Logical storage system (LD KC) that can be c onnected to an HP XP12 0 00 D isk Array (see
“Logical Storage System (LDKC) that can be Connected to an HP XP12000 Disk Array” on page 74)
• Volume pair that can create pairs (see “Volume that canBeUsedtoCreatePairs” on page 75)
• ConnectionwithanHP XP12000 Disk Arrayina 3DCremotecopyconfiguration (see
“Connection with an HP XP12000 Disk Array for a 3DC Remote Copy Configuration”onpage75)
Logical Storage System (LDKC) that can be Connected to an HP XP12000
Disk
Array
To execute a remote copy from an HP XP24000 Disk Array to an HP XP12000 Disk Array, or vice versa,
configure
a
logical path between the LDKC of the HP XP24000 Disk Array and the HP XP12000 Disk
Array. In
this
case, the logical path can be configured only between LD KC00 on the HP XP24000 Disk
Array and
HP
XP12000 Disk Array. Therefore, you cannot configure a logical path between LDKC01 on
the HP XP24000 Disk Array and HP XP12000 Disk Array (see Figure 35 on page 75).
More than one H P XP12000 Disk Array can be connected to LDKC00 on the HP XP24000 Disk Array.
Note:
The
re
are only two LDKCs for the current version, which are LDK C00 and LDKC01. LDKC01 and
an HP XP12000 Disk Array cannot be connected.
Note:
The steps to configure a logical path between an HP XP24000 Disk Array and an HP
XP12000
Disk
Array are the same as the steps to set the logical paths bet ween volumes on an
HP
XP240
00 Disk Array. For detaile d information about the steps to configure logical paths, see
“Config
uring Storage Systems and Logical Paths” on page 95.
