two switches are required for distances greater than 1 0 km. Continuous Access Journal op erations can
be performed at distances of up to 30 km (18 .6 miles) using standard single-mode longwave support.
For further distance, channel extender connections are required. For distances greater than 43 km (26.7
miles), approved channel extender products and telecommunications lines are required.
