HP StorageWorks SMI-S VA (Storage Management
Initiative Specification)
Introduction
HP StorageWorks SMI-S VA provides the Web-Based Enterprise Management
(WBEM) interface for the management of HP StorageWorks VA arrays. SMI-S
VA uses the Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S), which is a
new standard developed by the Storage Networking Industry Association
(SNIA).
SMI-S VA is a component of Command View SDM and resides on the host to
which the arrays are connected in the SAN. It runs as a service daemon. To
start and stop SMI-S VA, see “"Starting and Stopping SMI-S VA" on page 65.
This section describes procedures for configuring and installing SMI-S VA for
HP StorageWorks Command View SDM.
