A Configure the matrix from the
command line
Matrix Server provides mx commands that can be used to create the initial matrix
configuration. These commands are equivalent to the Configure Matrix graphical
user interface described in Chapter 2 and can be used in configuration scripts. We
recommend that you review the description of the Configure Matrix window (see
“15. Configure the matrix” on page 22) to become familiar with the actions performed
by the mx commands.
NOTE:
Before configuring a matrix from the command line, steps 1 through 15 in Chapter
2, page 11, must be completed on each node.
Command sequence
When performing the initial configuration of a matrix, the commands must be entered
in a specific order. The following examples show the necessary sequences for Fibre
Channel switch-based fencing and web management-based fencing.
The mx commands used in these examples are described under “Command
descriptions” on page 48.
Fibre Channel switch-based fencing
This example assumes the matrix will include four nodes: nodeA, nodeB, nodeC,
and nodeD. The commands are run from nodeA by a member of the machine’s local
Administrators group on that node.
