This chapter describes how to perform the following activities:
• Collect Matrix Server log files with mxcollect
• Check the server configuration
• Disable a server for maintenance
• Troubleshoot a cluster
• Troubleshoot service and device monitors
Collect log files with mxcollect
The mxcollect utility collects error event logs that can be useful for diagnosing
technical issues with Matrix Server. When you report a problem to HP Support, you
may be asked to run the mxcollect utility and then send the logs to HP for analysis.
Create an FTP account
An FTP server is available to help you submit log files. To obtain an FTP account,
contact HP Support.
Run mxcollect
You will need to run the mxcollect utility on each node. The utility is located in
the %ProgramFiles%\PolyServe\MatrixServer\tools folder. Go to this
location and double-click the file mxcollect.exe.
You will then see a command window that says “Collecting files.” The information
collected from that node is written to the file
mxcollect_machinename_yyyymmdd_hhmmss_default.zip. This file is
placed in the folder %SystemDrive%\Program Files\PolyServe\
MatrixServer\conf\mxcollect.
