4.1.0 HP PolyServe Matrix Server administration guide (T5392-96073, October 2010)
Virtual Host: Enter a hostname or an IP address for the virtual host. The IP address
must be higher than the system's primary address.
Application name: An “application” provides a way to group virtual hosts and related
service and device monitors on the Applications tab. All of the Matrix Server resources
associated with the application can then be treated as a unit. You can specify a new
application name, select an existing application name, or leave this field blank.
However, if you do not assign a name, Matrix Server will use the IP address for the
virtual host as the application name.
Always active: If you check this box, upon server failure, the virtual host will move
to an active server even if all associated service and device monitors are inactive or
down. If the box is not checked, failover will not occur when all associated service
and device monitors are inactive or down and the virtual host will not be made active
anywhere. (See “Virtual host activeness policy” on page 197 for details.)
Policy: The policy determines the failback action that the virtual host will take following
a failover to a backup server.
