1 Quick start checklist
The following checklist is intended for new installations of Matrix Server and includes
typical steps to configure the cluster.
Cluster configuration steps
The following checklist assumes that the installation and configuration steps described
in the HP PolyServe Matrix Server installation guide have been completed.

Review administrative consid-
erations and restrictions.
Set up administrative networks for Matrix Server:
Specify the networks that you prefer to use for Matrix
Server administrative traffic. You can also disable interfaces
for virtual hosts. See “Allow, discourage, or exclude admin-
istrative traffic” on page 68.
Configure network interfaces.
Prepare PSFS filesystems:
The disks to be used for PSFS filesystems must be imported
to enable the cluster to control access to them. See “Import
SAN disks” on page 73.
Import disks into the cluster.
Dynamic volumes can include multiple disks and are used
for PSFS filesystems. See “Create a dynamic
volume” on page 85.
Create dynamic volumes.
Select the dynamic volumes to be used for each filesystem
and configure the appropriate options such as block size
and disk quotas. See “Create a filesystem” on page 107.
Create PSFS filesystems.
