4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Installation Guide (T5392-96046, March 2010)
If you do not install one of these drivers, the operating system will select the default
driver, which has not been validated with Matrix Server.
Server requirements
The minimum requirements for cluster servers are:
• AMD Opteron or Intel EM64T servers running a supported 64-bit operating system.
• A supported operating system (see Supported operating systems, page 11).
• 512 MB of memory.
• 1 GB of disk space on the installation drive for Matrix Server and its log and
runtime files.
• Ethernet 10/100/1000 port.
Also note the following:
• All servers in the matrix must be on the same subnet.
• Based on HP PolyServe experience, it is highly recommended that each server
be placed in a separate zone with the storage.
• Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS) must not be installed.
• Microsoft Windows Script Host (WSH) is required and should not be disabled.
• The HP PolyServe Management Console requires that the display be set to a
minimum of 256 colors.
• The minimum resolution for the PolyServe Management Console is 1024x768.
• Matrix Server has been verified with the English locale.
NOTE:
To ensure that file times are consistent across the matrix, it is recommended that all
matrix servers operate with synchronized time-of-day clocks. An NTP server is one
commonly used mechanism for synchronizing system clocks.
Network configuration requirements
All networks used with Matrix Server should be configured as follows:
• Matrix Server supports only one IP address per subnet. This IP address can exist
on a bonded or teamed interface. If additional IP addresses are needed on the
same subnet, use HP Scalable NAS virtual hosts instead of adding additional IP
addresses directly to the NIC.
