4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Installation Guide (T5392-96046, March 2010)

Command descriptions
The mx commands used in the configuration specify the following information.
mx config license <file name>
The location of the Matrix Server license file. The file must be present on the
server running the command.
mx config secret <alphanumeric key>
This password provides additional security for network communications among
the servers in the matrix. The password can contain up to 127 characters.
mx config protocol Multicast|Unicast
The protocol used for Matrix Server administrative traffic. The default is Multicast.
mx config santype fc|iSCSI
Whether the SAN uses Fibre Channel or iSCSI. The default is fc (for Fibre
Channel).
mx config fcswitch [--community <string>] <switch> ...
Configuring Fibre Channel switches is required for Fibre Channel switch-based
fencing and optional for web management-based fencing. Specify the hostnames
or IP addresses of the switches that are directly connected to the nodes in the
matrix, including cascading switches. If you are using an MPIO configuration,
be sure to configure all of the switches.
The default SNMP community string for Matrix Server is private. If you want
to use a custom community string, include the --community <string> option.
The SNMP community string must be set to the same value on Matrix Server and
the SAN switches.
mx config fcfencing
With Fibre Channel switch-based fencing, when a server needs to be fenced,
Matrix Server will disable the servers access in the Fibre Channel fabric. The
server must be rebooted to regain access to the SAN.
mx config mp set <uuid1/partno> [<uuid2/partno> <uuid3/
partno>]
Matrix Server uses a set of membership partitions to control access to the SAN
and to store the device naming database, which includes the global device
names that Matrix Server assigns to the SAN disks placed under its control.
Specify either one or three LUNs or disk partitions be to used as membership
partitions. Note the following:
LUNs must already be partitioned as described in step 11. Create LUNs for
the membership partitions and modify partition tables, page 18.
