4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Installation Guide (T5392-96046, March 2010)
2 Install PolyServe Matrix Server
This chapter describes how to perform a new installation of PolyServe Matrix Server
on servers running Microsoft Windows.
Contents of the Matrix Server distribution
The Matrix Server distribution contains the following files:
• MxS_4.0.0.<xxxx>.<arch>.msi. The Matrix Server software package. The
software is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Be sure to install the version
that corresponds to your operating system.
• MxConsole_4.0.0.<xxxx>.<arch>.msi. The Management Console and
mx utility for use on hosts outside the matrix.
• mxcheck.exe. A Matrix Server utility that checks the configuration of the server.
This utility should be run before installing Matrix Server. The mxcheck folder
contains tests used by the utility.
Supported operating systems
The Windows Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition (64-bit) operating systems
with Service Pack 2 (SP2) are supported.
User authentication
Matrix Server uses Windows credentials to authorize access to the matrix. By default,
members of the machine local Administrators group have access to the matrix and
can perform all matrix operations. When you configure the matrix, you should logon
to Windows with a domain or local user account that is a member of the machine
local Administrators group on the target Matrix Server node to be configured. A
domain user account is recommended to avoid additional authentication prompting
when exporting the configuration to other servers in the matrix.
