4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Command Reference Guide (T5392-96048, March 2010)

Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) is used to coordinate
transactions between different SQL instances running on different nodes in the
cluster. There can be only one MSDTC service on each machine.
NOTE:
HP PolyServe Software for Microsoft SQL Server provides two
methods to virtualize MS DTC. It can be configured for high
availability, as described under mx vmsdtc Virtual MSDTC
commands or it can be managed by a specific Virtual SQL Server.
If you will be configuring MS DTC for high availability, use the
--no_msdtc option when configuring a Virtual SQL Server.
When the --msdtc option is used to manage MS DTC via a Virtual SQL Server,
the following limitations apply:
Because only one MSDTC resource exists per machine, you can define MSDTC
support for only one Virtual SQL Server per machine. You can, however,
define other Virtual SQL Servers that do not support MSDTC.
If two MSDTC-enabled Virtual SQL Servers share the same backup and both
Virtual SQL Servers fail, the first server to come up will lock the MSDTC re-
source, preventing the other Virtual SQL Server from starting.
You cannot use COM+ components or MSMQ on a node where MSDTC has
been virtualized.
For more information about MSDTC, see the HP PolyServe Software for Microsoft
SQL Server administration guide.
[--force yes|no]
When set to yes, this option causes the operation to complete even if it encounters
an error.
<ip> is the IP address for the Virtual SQL Server. <name> is the NetBIOS name
and can include up to 15 characters.
The order in which you specify the network interfaces determines the ordering for
failover. The first network interface is the primary interface; network traffic for the
Virtual SQL Server goes to the node providing this interface. The remaining network
interfaces are backups. Each network interface must be located on a different node.
deleteDelete a Virtual SQL Server
mx vsl delete [--force yes|no] <vsql>
The --force yes option will delete a Virtual SQL Server on a node that is down.
